We are pleased to announce that Peter and Ann have completed the new version of the ‘Guidelines’ originally authored by Marianne Tavares, published in 2003. The first guidelines were originally commissioned by the Prince of Wales’s Foundation for Integrative Health.
NACTSPC is a voluntary organisation that provides peer support for complementary therapists working in supportive and palliative care, with a focus on patient safety and best practice. NACTSPC were asked by our members to develop and update the guidelines.
The authors, both complementary therapists, with a background in teaching, research and leadership, have worked closely with the NACTSPC Committee to produce and publish this 236-page new guidance.
The document addresses clinical governance issues, adaptations in end-of-life care and the role of complementary therapies in managing symptoms and improving the quality of life for patients and their families/caregivers. The ‘Guidelines’ also include summaries of a selection of research studies, audits and service evaluations to illustrate developments and the growing evidence base for integrating complementary therapies in compassionate clinical care.
NACTSPC presented a limited run of the publication at our conference on 17th September, which sold out of copies! We are awaiting the next delivery which we expect to be available by the week commencing 13th October.
If you would like to be added to the waiting list for a copy, please e-mail web@nactspc.co.uk with your name and postal address and we will contact you with the purchase link, along with the expected delivery date in due course.
NACTSPC members will be able to purchase a copy at an exclusive discounted price.
Best wishes,
Jemima Neale, NACTSPC Chair, on behalf of the NACTSPC Committee
